Throughout the movie, Ralphie schemes to get the gun…only to conjure up daydream after daydream of what will happen when he has the gun…
Every time Ralphie, in his scheming, attempts to win an adult over to his dream of owning the Red Ryder BB Gun, he is told the same thing. He approaches his mother first, then writes an essay for school, and even asks the department store’s Santa Claus…and each time he’s told the same thing, “You’ll shoot your eye out.”
There are also dozens of hilarious subplots to the movie, with the most infamous incident of all being the arrival of Ralphie’s father’s “major prize,” otherwise known as The Leg Lamp.
